Dog Dean Afternoon

Good Afternoon Hunters! I have a fun blog for you this week with a funny episode in the Supernatural series: Dog Dean Afternoon. This episode puts a whole new spin on the idea of a man's best friend. In this episode, Sam and Dean are investigating the death of a taxidermist, and as it turns out, it's the dog of the first victim who is the only witness to both crimes. Sam and Dean investigate the case, and while they didn't know yet what kind of monster they were dealing with, they decided to see if they can somehow communicate with the dog, Colonel. Sam brews a potion, and Dean drinks it. The spell is supposed to make it so they can hear the dog's thoughts through a mind meld. Skeptical at first, Dean tries to talk to the dog and hear its thoughts, but nothing happens.  But after a minute, Dean finds he can understand the dog's speech and the speech of every animal around them. The funny bit is that Dean also starts to take on dog-like tendencies like scratching, p...

Garth

Good evening Hunters, This week we will be discussing a slightly different character in the supernatural verse: Garth. Garth is one of the funnier characters in the show because he's not the standard hunter type that we have seen/discussed up to this point. In comparison to Sam and Dean, Garth appears like the quirky, nerdy younger brother. Garth is short and very thin in comparison to the boys, who are tall and broad-shouldered. He may not look like much, but Garth is very knowledgeable, scrappy, and brings a positive attitude to hunting. When Dean meets Garth he gives him the cold shoulder because he thinks he doesn't take the job seriously and that he is a dead weight on the case. But Garth shows Dean his worth and that there are different ways to approach hunting than just a bruting attitude who uses force to kill monsters. Garth shows the boys that brain power in hunting is just as important as strength and striking first. He also teaches them to lighten up and lean on ea...

Bobby Singer

Evening Hunters, For this week's blog, I will introduce a special character in the Supernatural series: Bobby Singer. I've mentioned Bobby in a past post or two, and he is notable because he is one side character that reappears multiple times throughout the series consistently. Bobby is a veteran hunter that meets John Winchester (Sam and Deans's dad) and becomes a second father figure/ confidant to the Winchester brothers throughout the series. To give context, Bobby became a hunter after he killed his wife, who was possessed by a demon. After this instance, he gets into hunting and does the job for many years before stepping away from the field and passing on cases to other hunters. He's an interesting character because he's a veteran hunter and information center for all things hunting. For cases, he helps research various supernatural beings, identifying them and what will kill them. He has several phones in his home for various aliases he has in place (FBI, CIA...

The Men of Letters Bunker

Image
Happy Sunday, Hunters! This week's blog will discuss a large turning point in Supernatural, one of my favorites in the series. So up until this point, we have talked about hunting, monsters, weapons, etc., the whole nine about what the Winchester brothers mainly do throughout this show, but one thing I haven't touched on is how widespread the hunting network is. In season 7/8, Sam and Dean run across the knowledge of a society called the Men of Letters.  The Men of Letters were a society active in the 1940s/1950s that dealt with mysteries that are not easily explainable to men. AKA a higher order of monster hunters who think they are better than actual hunters. Only a few hunters were trusted to know about the Men of Letters for security reasons. The boys find out about this society through their paternal grandfather (Henry Winchester), who used a spell to travel through time and ended up in their present-day 2013 to escape a demon called Abaddon, who is a Knight of Hell (a s...

Charlie Bradbury

Afternoon Hunters, In this week's blog, we will be discussing a character in Supernatural named Charlie Bradbury. We meet Charlie in Season 7, Episode 20: The Girl with The Dungeons and Dragons Tattoo. Charlie is a red headed woman in her 20s who loves science fiction and fantasy everything who while working a typical office job doubles as a gifted computer hacker. Sam and Dean meet her at one of Dick Roman's (season 7 Villian, Creature: Leviathan) corporate offices when they are tracking down a encrypted hard drive made by another hunter. This drive has crucial secret hunter knowledge that if the Leviathans got a look at the information things would not be good. Charlie helps the boys out and gets the drive back and also hacks into Dick Romans communications so they can figure out what his plans are and what his movements are at that current moment.  There is a fight after Charlie gets the information and Charlie's arm get's broken but thankfully the Winchesters were ...

Tools Of The Trade: Hunter Edition

Disclaimer: This post is for entertainment purposes only. Do not attempt. Morning Hunters, Now that we've talked a bit about the show itself, it's only fitting to discuss the weapons/tools the Winchesters use to defend themselves against monsters, angels, and demons. After further research, there are too many weapons in this show to list them all in detail, but I can give you a basic rundown of the weapons they more typically use. First, the Winchesters keep their supplies in the trunk of their 67' Impala under a false bottom lid. The boys pose as FBI agents, forest rangers, priests, doctors, laborers, crew workers, and more to get access to crime scenes, police report, autopsies, etc. Virtually pretend to be anyone essential to attain any information they need to understand what monster they're dealing with. An essential item we see them use in every episode is Fake IDs/ Fed Badges. While this isn't a weapon, it's an essential tool they need to do their jobs a...

Harvelle's

Evening Night Owls and Hunters, This week we are going to talk about my all-time favorite characters in the show Supernatural; Ellen and Jo Harvelle. Sam and Dean meet this mother-daughter duo at Harvelle's Roadhouse at the beginning of Season 2. For context, John Winchester, the boy's father, has just died, and they're navigating how to go on with the hunt for the Yellow-Eyed Demon after a huge defeat. To get themselves back on the horse, they look for another hunt and find a voicemail on their father's phone from Ellen regarding information about the demon. They set out for Nebraska and walk into a seemingly empty saloon. After some investigation, Sam and Dean each find themselves on the wrong end of a shotgun with Jo and Ellen on the other side of them. After a moment, Ellen recognizes their names and realizes that these are "John Winchesters Boys," lowers her rifle and introduces herself and her daughter Jo. Ellen was surprised to see them because she had...
