Tools Of The Trade: Hunter Edition

Morning Hunters,

Now that we've talked a bit about the show itself, it's only fitting to discuss the weapons/tools the Winchesters use to defend themselves against monsters, angels, and demons.

After further research, there are too many weapons in this show to list them all in detail, but I can give you a basic rundown of the weapons they more typically use.

First, the Winchesters keep their supplies in the trunk of their 67' Impala under a false bottom lid. The boys pose as FBI agents, forest rangers, priests, doctors, laborers, crew workers, and more to get access to crime scenes, police report, autopsies, etc. Virtually pretend to be anyone essential to attain any information they need to understand what monster they're dealing with. An essential item we see them use in every episode is Fake IDs/ Fed Badges. While this isn't a weapon, it's an essential tool they need to do their jobs as monster hunters correctly, so they don't get killed.

Second, salt is a basic weapon they keep handy for ghosts and spirits. They have a shotgun or two that shoot off rounds filled with salt that can dissipate a spirit. Salt won't kill the entity, but it will buy some time for the Winchesters to get away and figure out how to kill it.

Third, an EMF detector; this tool reads paranormal activity in the immediate vicinity. The closer you were to the energy source, the louder the meter would wail. They used this tool often in the earlier seasons when tracking ghosts and other paranormal activity at crime scenes. They also kept holy water and anti-possession necklaces in the trunk to ward off demons. Later, the boys get that symbol on their chests so they can never be possessed by anything.

Lastly, the Winchesters have an array of knives and blades to handle various creatures in the trunk. Axes, pocket knives, and machetes for beheading Vampires; Angel blades to kill angels (the bad ones), demon knives for you guessed it, demons, and silver blades for lycanthropes, djinn, lamias, wraiths, shapeshifters, etc.

Obviously, you'll need many weapons and tools if you want to be a hunter. Fun fact, at least half the weapons they use in the show for various creatures they didn't have in their arsenal, to begin with, which is terrifying.

If you ever join the hunt, stock up, you'll need it, or choose any other profession.
