Wheels and Deals

 Evening Hunters,

So I was just rewatching Supernatural to get content for this blog, and I realized one of my favorite episodes of season two was the one that featured what the show calls "Crossroad Demons." It's from the episode "Crossroad Blues." In the show, a Crossroad Demon is a demon you summon using a voodoo box with your picture and a few other witchcraft objects. Then you bury the box in the middle of four roads that intersect. From there, the demon will appear (they can appear as anyone human or other, but usually regular human), and the summoner can make a request; this can be a wish, desire, or anything you want. But the price for anything is your soul, and you only get ten years to enjoy the wish until a hellhound (big black dog) comes to collect your soul. From what the show describes, once you make the deal, your fate is sealed. The only exception is if someone makes another deal to save your life and sacrifice theirs in your place. When the Hellhound comes to collect your soul, it's not pretty, so it's best to avoid making deals with anyone without knowing the price. Most demons in the show refer to the price as a favor you'll owe in ten years' time to trick people into gambling their souls away.

It's a fascinating episode because what could people want so badly in their lives that it's worth their soul and their life span cut in half? One guy traded his to be a famous blues artist, another for artistic talent, then others for success in business or medicine.

Is there anything you'd want worth your immortal soul damned to hell?
